Dr. Stanley YIP

Profile

Dr. Stanley Yip is an experienced urban planner, land economist and urban designer with extensive professional and research experience around the world in Canada, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. Dr. Yip has led a series of major low carbon urban development and eco-planning projects in China, providing innovative implementation advice to local governments. With over 30 years of senior management and professional experience, Dr. Yip is a recognized leading urban planning professional, research and academic leader in sustainable cities, green buildings, low carbon infrastructure and eco-city planning in China and Asia.

Dr. Yip is the Co-Founder of NanRise Pte Ltd which is a spin off company from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. NanRise has been licensed by NTU to commercialize all the knowledge of the NTU EcoCampus technology program which was set up as an accelerator and living laboratory in Singapore with focus on sustainable urban solutions for Asia. He was the Director, Planning and Development/Consultant in Arup, an internationally renowned planning and engineering consulting group from 2006 to 2015 and has been providing policy advisory and project consulting services to clients in both public and private sectors on the planning of major urban development and infrastructure projects in Asia.

Dr. Yip has served on public committees and boards both internationally and locally. He was elected as the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners and was appointed by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR Government as a part-time policy advisor in the Hong Kong Government Central Policy Unit. In Mainland China, he was appointed as advisor to a number of local governments including Jiangsu Province and the Cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Harbin, Ningbo and Changzhou.

Dr. Yip has been active in research and academic work and had been appointed Adjunct Professor, School of Urban Planning and Design, Shenzhen Graduate School, Peking University, as well as Honorary and Adjunct Professor, Hong Kong Centre of Asian Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
